The AMA is committed to leading the response
of America's physicians to solve the health coverage crisis for all
uninsured patients.
In the short term, the AMA will
strongly advocate for incremental measures to expand coverage for
children and lower-income families and individuals. Further, the AMA
will work to build political pressure for action on both coverage and
access to care.
In the long term, the AMA will
continue to press for the adoption of a consumer-driven, market-based
plan to expand coverage through tax credits and insurance market
reforms.

On Monday, February 12, Lobby Day
activities will include educational sessions on effective advocacy and
lobbying techniques, briefings on legislative issues currently before
Congress, and a full afternoon on Capitol Hill meeting with legislators

What a load of crap!
The hard working middle class with families
and mortgages pays for everything once again. Low income families and the military are all looked after to a degree but the rest of us can
go to hell or lose our life's savings. Once you have a pre-existing
condition, your insurer can't get rid of you fast enough to reduce
corporate profit loss. Free County Clinics offer limited help but more
than likely you'll end up with Dr. Ngo from Viet Nam who speaks broken
English and is just waiting to cash in while he screws up your
diagnosis. The internet can give you better advice.
Stop being hoodwinked by the AMA and
HMO's. Military hawks are eating up your tax dollars on world police
actions and a useless campaign in Iraq. Demand to have a universal
health care system. With the resources in America, it could become the
best and most humanitarian plan in the world. There is no reason why homeland security would
be compromised as a result of more funding for health care. Get rid of pork barrel
military spending and put limits on mal practice lawsuit settlements to
reduce Doctor's insurance costs.
There are way too many lawyers in this world and not enough
humanitarians. Most Doctors are highly trained professionals who care
deeply about their patients. The AMA has to do a better job as a watch
dog to prevent the bad apples from practicing medicine. Elect responsible leaders who include the health of the nation in their
agenda. This is a serious issue and if Americans speak up and protest,
things will change. Nothing good ever happens without sacrifice unless
you win the lottery. You owe it to your children to help make this
happen.
